Royal Racers Raise Funds to Study Abroad

RunningRoyals5KDuring the Running with the Royals 5K walk/run, students, faculty, staff and members of the community teamed up to raise funds for a study-abroad trip to Israel scheduled for May.

Participants dressed in their finest Prom attire for the race through Little Italy and the Dahlman Neighborhood.

The event was organized by the Student Development Office and the team traveling to Israel.  Runners and walkers raised more than $1,400 to help students study the Bible in Israel.

“The students were so excited that they are already planning next year’s 5K. They loved it!” said Dr. Tara Rye, Dean of Women and leader of the Israel team. “God loves to bless those seeking to honor Him. And today I felt God’s blessings on our small group.”

A special thanks goes to the Bellevue chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), Warriors of Christ, led by President Eddie Alexander and three State Area Representatives, who assisted in the 5K.  The CMA directed runners around the final corner and handed out water at the end of the run.  They brought their motorcycles for the participants to see, played music and cheered on the runners/walkers.
