Grace University has the largest new student enrollment in more than 30 years. The number of new students arriving on campus from across the country total 161, which is a 55 percent increase over 2012. This is also the second consecutive year that enrollment has increased for the private, Christian university. Enrollment data show that while the top number of students are from Nebraska, California is ranked as the number two home state for new Grace University students. Additional incoming freshman are already applying for the January 2014 semester.
Dr. David Barnes, president, credits the record enrollment numbers to strategic recruitment and program development efforts. Over the past year, the graduate programs have doubled, two additional athletic programs have been implemented, and three key undergraduate programs were developed.
“We are excited that students from across the country are recognizing the value of Christian higher education,” said Barnes. “We are offering them a rigorous academic program in preparation for a professional career while giving the strong spiritual foundation they need as well.”
This year Grace University has expanded it’s offerings in both academics and athletics. The College of Graduate Studies doubled its offerings adding a Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Education, and School Counseling track. New undergraduate programs were also added, including English, Pre-Law, and Communication Studies.
Grace University is also expanding its athletic department, adding women’s soccer and baseball programs for the 2013-2014 season. Women’s softball will begin in 2014. Plans are also in the works to develop a soccer, baseball, and softball complex. The expansion is being done in preparation to join the NAIA and to move to the NCCAA Division I level.
Grace University, located in Omaha, Neb., is a regionally accredited private Christian university with more than 40 diverse undergraduate and graduate degree programs with the mission to develop servant leaders for the home, the church and the world through excellence in biblically integrated education.
