Full Time Admissions Counselor

  • Job Summary:   Responsible to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll academically qualified students in accordance with the philosophy of the University.  Responsible for recruitment of traditional undergraduate students. Reports directly to the Manager of the Undergraduate Admissions Office. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Initiate contact with prospective students interested in a Christ-centered education. 
  2. Communicates in person, by telephone, by email, and in writing with prospective students, guidance counselors, and parents. 
  3. Compile essential information on each prospective student
  4. Provide requested information in a timely manner.
  5. Input and maintain database accurately.
  6. Conduct on-campus campus visits, campus tours, and information sessions with prospective students and parents. 
  7. Counsel applicants on admissions policies and procedures.
  8. Track receipt of application materials; enter into PowerCampus database and follow-up with prospective students verbally or via email confirming what arrived and the date.
  9. Read and assemble all admissions paperwork on a prospective student to be reviewed by the acceptance committee.  
  10. Attend college/career fairs as needed.
  11. Schedule each aspect of individual campus visits and send out confirmation information once a campus visit has been scheduled.
  12. Assist with various special projects.
  13. Maintain active communication with all applicants
  14. Serve on departmental or university committees as requested.
  15. Help as needed with on campus events. 
  16. Participate in special assignments or short-term projects as needed.
  17. Maintain liaison with faculty and staff in all departments.
  18. Perform related duties as requested and able.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Commitment to the mission of Grace University. 
  3. Excellent  verbal and written organizational, communication & interpersonal skills required
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse personalities, education & cultural background.
  5. Bachelor’s degree required.
  6. Experience working with high school students is preferred.
  7. Strong detail orientation.
  8. Appreciation for the cyclical nature of admission work.
  9. Flexibility to handle a variety of duties and projects.
  10. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and Windows).
  11. Ability to work as an active part of a team. 
  12. Ability to receive general direction and guidance.
  13. Operate independently within established regulations and guidelines.
  14. Work collaboratively and supportively with other individuals and groups.
  15. A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel overnight during specific recruitment periods.
  16. Availability for extended, evening, and/ or weekend hours.
