Letter from Dr. Eckman

The choices prospective undergraduate students and their parents, as well as adult learners face in today’s higher education market are dizzying! Which college or university is best suited for me and for my goals? What major do I choose? Can I afford it? How does higher education fit into my larger life goals?

These questions and many more frame the decisions being made by today’s prospective students. But higher education is not only about preparing for a vocation; it is also about preparing for life. For that reason, I invite you to consider the uniqueness of Grace University and its mission: Grace University exists to develop servant leaders for the home, the church and the world through excellence in biblically-integrated education and through life change in a personal, discipling environment, all for the glory of God.

  • Grace University exists to develop servant leaders for the home, the church and the world. Every university graduate will be a leader. But Grace believes strongly that servant leaders are the most effective leaders for today’s complex world. Servant leaders lead by serving, by showing, by affirming, and by modeling Christ-like character and values. Servant leaders lead as Christ led.
  • Grace University’s curriculum and its many majors center on excellence in biblically-integrated education. At Grace, one of the faculty’s key goals is to enhance and help build a fully integrated Christian world and life view. At Grace, God’s Word is fully integrated with all the disciplines of human knowledge. You will learn how to think biblically and Christianly at Grace.
  • Grace University also promotes life change in a personal, discipling environment. Grace does not seek to tear down a student’s faith; rather, Grace seeks to deepen a student’s faith and walk with God. The Student Development Office strives to strengthen the spiritual life through meaningful standards, accountability and numerous mentoring relationships with other students, faculty and the SDO staff.
  • Grace University is a stewardship from God. Hence, everything done at Grace is to promote the glory of God. We do kingdom work at Grace and pursue His glory in everything we do.

Therefore, whether you are a recent high-school graduate or a working adult seeking to complete your bachelor’s degree or pursue advanced graduate study, consider Grace University, for the Grace faculty and staff are all deeply committed to the Grace mission. May the Lord richly bless you and guide you in making this important and eternally significant decision of where you will study.
