Grace University today announced the establishment of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies, the result of a $1 million gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. With this gift, the Grace University Board of Trustees has, to date, committed $1.7 million to the Growing with Grace campaign. For this campaign, Grace University has set a goal of raising $2.9 million by June 30, 2015.
“We are richly blessed to have the generous support of our Board of Trustees,” said Dr. David Barnes, president of Grace University. “We are thankful for their contagious enthusiasm for our mission and our future. The School of Professional and Graduate Studies will help us develop servant leaders who are passionate in the cause of Christ for years to come.”
The establishment of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies will allow Grace University to reach out to the community in more significant ways, grow programs with deep biblical integration and impact more students for the cause of Christ.
The School of Professional and Graduate Studies is part of an overall growth strategy for Grace University’s graduate and EXCEL adult degree completion programs. Specifically, this gift will allow for the expansion of current graduate programs as well as the development of additional graduate degree offerings. The gift also will be used to expand the online and face-to-face adult degree completion programs through EXCEL, allowing Grace University to serve more students in the adult learning community.
In the 2013-2014 academic year, Grace University experienced its largest new student enrollment in more than 30 years, attributed partially to an expansion in both academic and athletic offerings. The College of Graduate Studies doubled its offerings adding a Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Education and School Counseling track. New undergraduate programs also were added, including English, Pre-Law and Communication Studies.
As we come out of the quiet phase of the Growing with Grace campaign, we are excited to share the blessings the Lord is sharing with Grace University. Growing with Grace is the first phase of a multi-phase fundraising project. The second phase will lead Grace University into the future – adding additional academic and athletic programs as well as facilities to enhance retention and recruitment efforts.
“The Lord is showering us with His blessings, and we continue to follow where He leads us,” Barnes said. “Grace remains firm in its mission. These program and facility improvements will help continue the personal, discipling environment that fosters the development of Christ-centered, servant leaders.”
