Educational Ambassador--China

Job Description:
Spend ten months fully immersed in Chinese customs and culture as a part of the Ameson Year in China program. Teach English in an elementary or secondary school, while developing your professional skills, learning the world’s most spoken language, and enjoying the opportunity to explore Asia. 
Ameson Year in China (AYC) is designed for recent college graduates seeking to launch global careers by spending a year teaching, learning, and making a difference in schools across China. AYC participants benefit from being immersed in one of the world’s fastest developing cultural, economic, and political landscapes. Each week, participants are expected to spend a maximum of twenty hours teaching English, ten hours engaging in on-campus activities or office hours, and ten hours in collaborative or self-directed pursuits, such as language learning, exploration, or research.
Program Highlights
• Stipend of 5000RMB (about $800) a month
• Free Chinese language lessons
• Free housing at or near the school where you will be teaching
• Sponsorship for obtaining a Z-type working visa
• Reimbursement for your flight to and from China at the end of your program for 7500RMB (about $1,250)
• Free health insurance inside China
• Free airport pickup and arrival support

Assistant Director of Early Childhood

Objective of Position: To manage and direct early childhood operation in support of pro-active Christ centered Kids Kount Ministry.

Specific Responsibilities:

 Pray.

  • Be diligent in personal devotions and prayer that he/she might be continually growing in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
  • Be fully committed to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and its implementation at King of Kings Lutheran Church.  This includes holding fast the core values of Children’s Ministry and supporting the Leadership of King of Kings as that leadership follows Jesus, the Head of the Church.
  • Assist the Director in the day-to-day operations of Early Childhood administration.
  • Assist, supervise and support staff under the direction of the Director for Early Childhood Ministries to provide a Spirit filled experience.
  • Assist the Director in overseeing the budget. 
  • Assist the Director in carrying out Public Relations and communication.
  • Assist the Director in choosing and administering curriculum.

Education

Minimum Requirement:          Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education plus 2 years child care experience, plus state regulatory requirements or Associates Degree in Early Childhood.

 Preferred Requirement:           Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from an LCMS Synodical College plus 2 years childcare experience.

Qualifications:

1.         Must be spiritually mature, sensitive and competent in working with children and adults, plus a deep love for the work of the Lord.

2.         Teaching experience required.

3.         Administrative and management skills, required with experience and ability to establish rapport with parents and community.

4.         Willingness to cooperate in a multiple staff ministry required.

5.         Effective communication, interpersonal, organization, cognitive and teamwork skills required.

College Possible is a growing nonprofit dedicated to coaching low-income students to-and-through college, breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering our workforce. Our rigorously-tested model earns top-of-field results that have helped 98 percent of students served earn admission to college and supported nearly 80 percent through graduation. A 2011 Harvard study found that the program more than doubles a student's chance of enrolling in a four-year college.

Our after-school services include (1) academic support through ACT/SAT test preparation; (2) college application assistance; (3) financial aid consulting; (4) guidance in the college transition; and (5) support toward college degree completion.

As an AmeriCorps organization, College Possible is recruiting college graduates to serve for one year to help make a college degree and college success possible for low-income students. We are a pre K-8th grade state approved Christian School. We are in need of an outstanding Christian teacher for our school for the upcoming school year. We are a private school that does not accept any government funding which means all of our funds come from fundraising and tuition. BluePrint Math Fellowship

Position Summary
Blueprint Fellows play an integral role in heightening student achievement in schools across the country. On a daily basis, Fellows build individualized lessons based on predetermined curriculum and plan activities that help to fill in academic gaps students may have to strengthen academic performance inside the classroom. During the course of the year, Fellows are building strong relationships that help to increase each student’s self-confidence in and commitment to his/her education, helping to foster a positive future for each student. 

While teachers have classrooms of 25 or 30 students, Fellows manage no more than 4 students at a time. This allows for the individualization of remedial and supplemental instruction. Fellows receive on-going mentoring and professional development as well as receive written evaluation of feedback from their assigned Fellows Coordinator. Fellows are charged with focusing on the individual needs of their students, helping to bolster and accelerate student achievement while helping to close any skill gaps that may exist.

We are now accepting applications the 2014-2015 school year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Requirements
Being a Fellow is an intense but rewarding experience. It’s important that each Blueprint Fellow understands the urgency and rigor needed to help each and every student succeed in school. The following is what we are looking for from each and every one of our Fellows.

• Willingness to be a team-player with a strong sense of personal accountability and strong communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to be flexible and deal with a certain amount of unpredictability.
• The ability and willingness to go above and beyond to help support student achievement.
• Associates degree or higher required.
• Experience working with adolescents or related field preferred.
• Experience tutoring or mentoring youth is preferred.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for a Fellow position is $20,000-$21,000 per school year depending on site location. Depending on start date, salary may be pro-rated. The Fellow position includes a benefits package.
