Earth Care Apprenticeship Program

Ida Grove, IA

Hello!  My name is Phillip Jensen.  I'm the director of The Earthen Institute's Prairie Apprenticeship Program in rural, western Iowa and a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary.  For the past four years my wife and I have nurtured a ministry on our small-scale, organic vegetable farm that we've termed Prairie Whole Ministry.  Our emphasis has been a sort of whole-person discipleship and much of our work has been with marginalized teenage boys and families in transition - along with introducing folks in our community to a close-to-the earth discipleship.

I'm writing to you to make you aware that our Prairie Apprenticeship Program will begin its second term this summer.  Last year we kicked off this residential sustainable farming & study program as we welcomed two Apprentices into the life of our farm and home.  Someone has described our program as "L'Abri meets Joel Salatin."  It's something like that.  The attached Prospectus better fleshes it out.

We genuinely feel that the Lord has given us something of durable significance and beauty to offer to others.  Please pass this along as you see fit.  We are targeting Christian colleges, Christian camping, organic farmers, Christian environmental groups, L'Abri, and a few seminaries.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
