How Do Christians Engage the Middle East?

February 24-27, 2014

Keynote Speaker: Carl Medearis

Carl has 30 years of involvement in the Middle East (12 of which he lived, with his wife Chris and 3 kids, in Beirut, Lebanon) giving him a true insider's view of the region and making him one of a handful of American experts in Arab- American and Muslim-Christian relations. His work has encouraged university students, business professionals and political leaders to live their lives by the principles and teachings of Jesus to change their societies and nations.

Carl serves a number of current movements in the Middle East to come together around the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth to promote peace-making, as well as cultural, political and religious dialog leading toward understanding and reconciliation. He has authored:Muslims, Christians and Jesus, Tea with Hezbollah, and Speaking of Jesus: The Art of Not-Evangelism.

Plenary Speaker: Dr. Mark Christian

An Egyptian by birth and an obstetrician/ gynecologist by profession, Dr. Mark Christian – destined to become a Sunni religious leader – diverted destiny, left Islam, and eventually became devoted to the Christian faith. He is the founder of the Global Faith Institute. This Christian platform dedicated to the proclamation and pursuit of truth, particularly as it relates Middle Eastern history and current happenings in the United States and around the world.
