ABWA Non-traditional Student Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: A minimum of $1000.00
Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Nebraska Resident and in need of financial assistance. Must be a NON-TRADITIONAL student, must be registered to attend a Nebraska institution with a minimum of 6 hours per semester, be enrolled for the fall semester, and plan to complete a two- or four- year degree.

Ak-Sar-Ben International Association of Administrative Professionals Scholarships
Application Deadline: March 1
Scholarship Amount: $500.00
Eligibility Requirements: Students who plan to pursue a career as an Administrative Office Professional, plan to or now attending an accredited Nebraska or Iowa college, university, or business school, have a current GPA of 3.0 or above.
Selection Criteria: Based on student's goal as an office/administrative career, their seriousness of purpose, character, personality, citizenship, and leadership, their recommendation by school official and/or employer concerning ability, character, potential for college work, and promise of contribution to the office administration field.
Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship
Application Deadline: June 21
Amount: $500.00 scholarship
Eligibility Requirements: Must be a female college students ready to student teach during the 2004-2005 school year, a graduate of a Nebraska High School within Lincoln County, and must have at least a 3.0 GPA. in college.

Altrusa International of Council Bluffs, IA
Application Deadline: March 31st
Amount: Up to $500.00
Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be a resident of the geographical territory of the Council Bluffs Altrusa Club; scholarship requirement is a cumulative grade of B or greater; Applicant must be a second year student in a two year program, a third or fourth year student student in a four year undergraduate academic program or a graduate student; a person may re-apply after receiving the first grant; financial need will be the prime factor for this aid; Applicant must fill out one of the Altrusa applications and follow the instructions.
Application: Must be received by the Altrusa Scholarship Committee by March 31 with a decision to be made by May 31, and can be obtained at the Grace University Financial Aid office.
Curtis M. Elliott Memorial Scholarship
Application Deadline: January 15th
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a Nebraska resident enrolled as a full-time student and at least a second semester college sophomore or a junior at an accredited post-secondary institution located in Nebraska. They must have at least a "B" average and be a business major with a preference for an insurance-related field.

Delta Theta Chi Sorority (National Education Sorority)

Family & Community Education Association Myrna Powell-Journalism/Communications Scholarship
Application Deadline: All applications must be on file with the Douglas/Sarpy County Extension Office, 8015 West Center Road, Omaha, NE 69124 by May 15th.
Eligibility: Must be a resident of Douglas or Sarpy County, must have a journalism or communications major, and have completed at least one year of college work by June of the current year and be a sophomore standing or above. Applicants must also provide two or more letters of recommendation, with one being from an instructor in their chosen field.

Application Deadline: March 1st, June 1st, and December 1st
Scholarship Amount: $500-$3000 renewable for up to four years
Eligibility Requirements: Must have high school diploma, GED or be a graduating senior, must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited, post secondary education institute within the United States or Puerto Rico, and can not be a an employee or dependent family member of First Data/Western Union.
Selection Criteria: Looking for individuals with an ability to accept and deal with personal challenges, a commitment to learn and work hard, and a demonstration of financial need.
Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship
Application Deadline: March 11
Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00
Eligibility Requirements: Student must be enrolled at least part time in a Nebraska college or university, have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher, must be a sophomore in standing and accepted into one of the following majors programs: advertising, marketing, communication studies, mass communications, public relations, journalism, or graphic design/desktop publishing.
HEA Student Scholarship Application

Eligibility Requirements: Students must have graduated from Hastings Senior High School and must be currently student teaching.

HRAM Diversity Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $500.00
Eligibility Requirements: Anyone who plans to or is currently enrolled in a human resources or management degree program at a college or university is eligible for this award.
Selection Criteria: Student will be selected on the basis of the candidates diverse background, individual merit, commitment to a career in human resources, and has financial need.

Irene Mutch Thomson Electra Province Scholarship (Delta Theta Chi Sorority)
Application Deadline: February 1st
Scholarship Amount: One scholarship of $1000
Eligibility Requirements: Regional Competition for students who have already completed at least 30 hours at the college level, and who have a declared major in Music, Dance, Art, or Theatre, and will be attending an accredited college and university in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, or Nebraska.

James Madison Graduate Fellowship
Application Deadline: March 1
Scholarship Amount: Up to $24,000.000 It covers the cost of tuition, required fees, books, room and board, but cannot exceed $12,000.00 per year.
Eligibility Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, must be a teacher or plan to become a teacher of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary level, and must have earned an undergraduate degree by August 31, 2005. Students are expected to complete either Masters of Arts (MA), Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), and Master of Education (MEd)
Selection Criteria: The Junior Fellowship awards are given to students who have completed or are about to complete their undergraduate work and intend to enroll in full-time graduate work. The Senior Fellowship awards are give to current teachers who are pursuing graduate studies on a part time basis.

The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation Radio Scholarship
Application Deadline: March 1
Scholarship Amount: Up to 15 Scholarships for $5,000.00 each
Eligibility Requirements: Junior, Senior, or graduate students attending an institution in the United States preparing for a career in the radio industry. They must have maintained a 3.0 GPA or better and although financial need is a consideration, students of merit with an extensive history of radio-related activities are given preference.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
Application Deadline: April 15
Scholarship Amount: Scholarship ranges from $500 - $10,000
Eligibility Requirements: Son or daughter of a Marine on active duty or in the Reserve or a former Marine or Marine Reservist who has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or who was killed while in the service of our country, or the son or daughter of a former U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving or has served, with the US Marine Corps.
Must be a high school senior, high school graduate, currently enrolled as an undergraduate in an accredited college or university or currently enrolled in a post high school accredited vocational/technical school. Your 2005 family income is $63,000 or less (limit increases if siblings also apply).

Nebraska Human Services Association
Application Deadline: March 1st
Eligibility Requirements: Must be enrolled in an approved College or University in Nebraska and have progressed to at least Junior level, have financial need, and in pursuit of an undergraduate degree in social services (i.e. social work, counseling, human development and the family, or another field linked to helping people.
Amount: $100-$500
Application: An application may be obtained at the Grace University Financial Aid Office. The application must be accompanied with a letter of reference from the student's advisor or Dean and indicate the academic merit of the student.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship
Application Deadline: March 15th
Scholarship Amount: $1,500 each year for up to four years
Eligibility Requirements: U.S. Citizen, Legal Resident of the State of Nebraska, Scheduled to graduate from a Nebraska high school or receive GED in current academic year, Has applied or been accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an institution of higher education, including postsecondary vocational institutions, and Has a minimum ACT composite score of 30.
NOVA Chapter Business & Professional Women/USA

Saint Francis Medical Center Educational Loan
Scholarship Amount: $5,000-$7,500 Loan Agreement
Eligibility Requirements: Students who have been accepted into the following programs: Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, Radiology Technologist, and Respiratory Therapy. Candidate will agree to work for Saint Francis Medical Center for 2-3 years.

Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship Program
Application Deadline: May 31
Scholarship Amount: Up to $3,800.00
Guidelines: The Scholarship will supplement the financial aid package, not substitute for aid, received from an institution. Awards up to $3,8000 will be made payable to school on behalf of the student.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must demonstrate unmet financial need of more than $1,000 after the financial aid package has been determined, have a family adjusted gross income of $30,000 or less, and have a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

7th Annual Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest
Application Deadline: September 16
Scholarship Amount: First Prize ~ $5,000.00 cash award, Second Prize ~ Three $1,000.00 cash awards, Third Prize ~ Five $400 cash awards, Finalist Prize ~ Twenty $100.00 cash award, Semifinalist ~ Twenty $50.00 cash awards
Eligibility Requirements: Compose an essay on one of the three given topics. Essays must be 1,000 - 1,200 words in length. The applicant must be a full-time college student in a degree program. Employees of the Ayn Rand Institute, their immediate family members, and past winners are not eligible for this contest.

2005 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund
Application Deadline: January 3rd or until 1000 applications have been received, whichever is earlier.
Scholarship Amount: Five women will be awarded $10,000 scholarships and 50 women will be awarded $1,000 scholarships.
Eligibility Requirements: Women currently residing in the U.S., who have earned a high school diploma or their GED on or before September 1995, be enrolled or planning to be enrolled in a full or part-time undergraduate accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school, be attending the full 2005-2006 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2006, and have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate degree as of the beginning of the fall 2005 fall academic year.
Selection Criteria: Recipients are selected on a number of criteria, including academic record, scholarship essay, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals, and an outside appraisal.
