Common Questions

Q: Can I visit the campus?
A:
Please do! We welcome campus visits and would enjoy providing you a tour of our facilities.  Just let us know when you will be in the neighborhood and we can make arrangements. While you are here, you may want to talk to someone in the Financial Aid department or the Program Director of either the Counseling or Biblical Studies program.

Q: What is required to apply?
A: The application process is simple.  A completed application form, one Character Reference, one Pastoral Reference, one Academic Reference, a written essay, scores from a standard GRE, official College transcripts, and a $50 application fee.

Q: How can I obtain an application packet?
A:
An individual can request an application packet from the Graduate Admissions Counselor (402-449-2833), or complete a PDF of the application by clicking here.

Q: Once I submit the necessary application paperwork, how soon will I know if I have been accepted?
A:
When the necessary documents have been submitted to the University, the approval process begins. Qualified applicants will be contacted within 1-2 weeks to set up an interview with a program director.  Acceptance Letters will be mailed out 2-3 weeks after the interview process is complete.

Q: Is an entrance exam required?
A:
The GRE is required.
(Required only if cumulative G.P.A. form Bachelors degree is 3.25 or lower.)

Q: What are the admission requirements?
A:
Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from a recognized or accredited College or university, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Evidence of English proficiency is required for those whose native language is not English, and a score of 550 on the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOFEL) or the equivalent is required. Each applicant must give evidence of their Christian faith and character.

Q: What graduate programs do you have?
A:
An Master of Arts in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts in Counseling.

Q: What percentage of graduates from the MA Counseling, Licensure Concentration, have passed the state licensing exam?
A: 100 percent! A testament to the strength of the Counseling program.

Q: How many total credits are required?
A:
MA Biblical Studies (all three concentrations) – 48 credit hours, MA Counseling (State Licensure Concentration) – 64 credit hours, MA Counseling (Ministry Concentration) – 48 credit hours.

Q: What classes can I expect to transfer into a Grace University program?
A: 
All degree programs have a Biblical/Theological Studies requirement.  The school will consider reducing the number of hours required in this area if the previous courses taken are a 300 or 400 level course.  All work needs to be "B" or better.  We do not accept 100 or 200 level subjects for graduate credit.

Q: What is the current graduate tuition?
A:
$400 per credit hour and there are NO semester fees. 

Q: When are classes offered?
A: All graduate classes accommodate busy adult lifestyles and are offered late afternoon, evening, or on an every other Saturday basis. Some classes are scheduled on a one-weekend per month basis.

Q: Can I obtain my Masters degree and still work full time?
A:
Yes. Practically all those that enroll in graduate studies, work full time and successfully manage class attendance, and homework assignments with work and family obligations.

Q: Is financial aid is available?
A: Yes. Financial aid is available to those that qualify.

Q: Tell me about the accreditation and academic standing of Grace University.
A:
Grace University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, 30 North La Salle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago IL 60602-2504. Phone 1-800-621-7440.Grace University is approved by the United States Department of Justice for education of foreign students and by the Nebraska State Department of Education for the education of veterans and others eligible for Veterans Administration benefits. Grace University is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Nebraska; the Evangelical Training Association; and Jerusalem University College, which is considered an acceptable off-campus center and is recommended to students for study abroad.

Q: When are intensive courses offered?
A:
Grace University schedules intensive courses during the “Winter Session” each year. Winter Session for 2005 is scheduled January 3rd - 14th.

Q: How far in advance of the Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter starting dates do I need to apply?
A:
The deadline for Summer enrollment is April 15th, July 15th for Fall enrollment, and October 15th for Winter/Spring enrollment.
