Professional Profile

Dr. Shope has been at Grace University since 1987. Prior to coming to Grace University he and his familly were missionaries with SIM in Liberia West Africa at Radio ELWA where Dr. Shope was Training Director. He has a Ph.D. in Speech Communciation from the Pennsylvania State University, an MA in Communcation from Wheaton College, and a BA in Communication from Moody Bible Institute.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Shope teaches courses in Statistics, Research Methods and Mass Communication. He also oversees the academic ourcomes assesment program and is the director of institutional research where he is involved in collecting and analyzing university research data.

Research and Creative Activity

In addition to doing Institutional Research, Dr. shope is also teaches online classes in foundations of research, survey methods, qualitative methods, and mixed methods research at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. His interest is in research methodology and has been involved in several funded research projects including being the evaluator for the Nebraska Assessment Cohort and the Nebraska Leadership for Learning Cohorts. Currectly he is the Co-Principle Investagator and qualitative methodologist for the NU Data Project "Using data to foster the school success of students with disabilities" which is funded by the US Department of Education. He is also involved in projects at the Nebraska Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Shope is also a Consultant Evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association as well as the Association for Biblical Education (ABHE). He has also been involved in creating and edi ting textbook ancillary materials for Sage Publications and Cengage Learning.
