Professional Profile

Dr. Chappell joined the Teacher Department as an associate professor in the fall of 2012. She spent fourteen years in public school teaching before coming to higher education. Dr. Chappell was on faculty at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota for five years and at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina for three years.

Dr. Chappell also has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida, a Master of Education from Columbia International University, and a Master of Science degree in Math Education from Walden University. Dr. Chappell earned her Doctorate of Education in Instructional Leadership from Argosy University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Chappell teaches classes in curriculum, instruction, assessment, math, instructional technology, and research. She currently teaches graduate courses in the Fast Track to Teaching program. Dr. Chappell presents workshops at local and regional conferences.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Chappell’s research focuses primarily on improving teaching and learning in the K-12 classroom and in higher education. She also develops and teaches online courses and has published a computer-based instruction (CBI) course in math methods with Virtual Education Software, Inc. Dr. Chappell writes instructional materials for pre-service and in-service teacher training.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Chappell desires to serve the Lord through developing Christian teachers to strive for excellence in education for the glory of Jesus. She and her husband, Mike, have two adult sons, Justin and Brandon.
