Professional Profile

Dr. Justin Brogan joined Grace University in the fall of 2009 after serving as an Adjunct Professor for 3 ½ years in the EXCEL and Graduate programs. Prior to joining Grace University he was a Psychologist 2 for the State of Iowa at the Glenwood Resource Center where he provided psychological care for people with Intellectual Disabilities and Psychiatric Diagnoses. Additionally, he operated a private practice for 2 years and currently provides Clinical Supervision for New Visions in Omaha, NE.

Dr. Brogan earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from Regent University’s CACREP Accredited Program in 2009. He earned a M.A. in Community Counseling in 2005 and his B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies, also majoring in Biblical Studies in 2003, both from Grace University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Brogan teaches classes in Clinical Counseling – Professional Orientation & Ethics, Research & Program Evaluation, Assessment & Appraisal, Counseling Theories, Marriage & Family, Suicide Prevention & Education, and Internship.

In the Spring of 2010, Dr. Brogan was appointed as the department chair of the counseling program and earned an advancement to Associate Professor.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Brogan’s research focuses primarily Generational Trends, Suicide Prevention, Interactional Styles, Counseling Pedagogy, & texting while driving. Dr. Brogan and peers published an article that discussed preparing international counselors through online distance learning. Dr. Brogan speaks regularly at conferences and workshops.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Brogan lives in rural Iowa with his wife, Mandy, and children, Coral and Aedan. Born in Canada on a U.S.A.F military base his family moved frequently with stops in Michigan, Germany, and Omaha where his family remained. His family attends church at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs. He is a huge fan of the University of Nebraska Huskers football program (Go Blackshirts). Additionally, he enjoys pleasure reading, exercising, golfing, sport shooting, and hunting. His most enjoyable pastime is spending time with his wife and children and the various activities they enjoy.
