Professional Profile

I am in my 7th year as the Dean of Men at Grace University. I have also coached men's soccer for the past 6 seasons. Before coming to Grace I was the Academic Dean for a Jr. College in Lincoln, Ne and before that the Director of Operations for the School of Professional Studies at Colorado Christian University.

Teaching and Related Service

Currently teach College Orientation each fall and Spiritual Foundations of Leadership online for the traditional undergraduate school and I teach Hermeneutics and Old and New Testament in the EXCEL program. I have taught classes in communications, critical thinking, group behavior and leadership. I also taught Jr. High History before working in higher education.

Research and Creative Activity

I have written and taught a course on Critical Thinking and use many of the theories and ideas from that in my leadership training that I give each year to our student leaders.

Personal Sketch

I have been married to Jackie for over 24 years and we have 4 children; Shawnta 21, Hunter 20, Trenton 18 and Colton 17. I love working at Grace and the community we have here, but I also pastor a small church start-up in Glenwood, IA called Common Ground, which seeks to bring the gospel of Jesus to the unchurched in and around our community. I love the outdoors and sports and spending time with my family.
