Professional Profile

Professor Santoro, an Associate Professor of Psychology at Grace University, Omaha, NE, has been a member of Grace University’s faculty since August 2005. In 2005, Professor Santoro came to Grace University serving as the Director of Undergraduate Psychology bringing a broad academic and counseling background. He accumulated extensive classroom experience serving as faculty or adjunct faculty for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Peru State, and Bellevue University.

Teaching and Related Service

Prior to beginning his tenure at Grace University, Professor Santoro was a member of the United States Air Force. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Science (1975), and subsequently, commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (1976). He served in various management and leadership positions until his retirement in 1987, after nearly 21 years of service. Post-retirement Professor Santoro was employed by several major Omaha-based corporations in key management roles as a computer engineer, quality assurance engineer, and software testing engineer.

Professor Santoro’s counseling experience began with an internship at JOURNEYS, a residential treatment center for adolescents diagnosed with alcohol and drug addictions. From 2009 – 2010 he served as a residential therapist at Boys Town, Omaha, NE, working with adolescents residing in a treatment group home environment while still serving as adjunct faculty at Grace. In 2010 he returned to Grace University in a full-time faculty capacity. He also re-opened a small private counseling practice, which affords him the opportunity to be involved in the local Omaha community. Professor Santoro has served on advisory boards for JOURNEYS Residential Treatment Center and Telecare.

Research and Creative Activity

To gain additional community experience, Professor Santoro is currently serving as a member of the Bellevue, NE Mayor’s Commission on Drug and Alcohol Abuse, working with middle school and high school students teaching them and their parents about the dangers of substance abuse. Additionally, Professor Santoro is actively participating in North Omaha’s Empowerment Network, which is working to transform the economic conditions and quality of life of African-Americans, North Omaha residents, and the greater Omaha region.

Personal Sketch

Professor Santoro’s non-academic interests include spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, traveling, working in his garden, reading, and teaching. He continues to work with adolescents diagnosed with emotional and substance abuse-related problems in life and providing an creative outlet for Grace University students chairing the University’s Annual Art Fair.
