The Intercultural Studies degree prepares students to engage in meaningful service across cultures, whether in the US or around the globe. IS students learn through relevant studies, relationships, and real-life experiences. Our intentional program design accesses the formal, non-formal and informal learning channels all the way through a student’s career.
Intercultural Studies (IS) majors complete an interdisciplinary, broad-based accredited degree program focused on the relationships between humans from different cultures. IS majors grow in three targeted areas: intrapersonal, interpersonal, and intercultural.
Interpersonal
Working with people who are like you can be just as challenging as working across cultures. Through targeted personality training and team-building, IS majors begin the process of learning about true community.
Intercultural
IS majors have the opportunity to develop in the three major areas of Intercultural Effectiveness: Intercultural Competence/Sensitivity, Cross-Cultural Communication Skills, and Professional Expertise. Students who grow in these areas will be on the path to effective cross-cultural work, service, and ministry.
