Program Structure

Pre-Core Requirements
62 hours

Sixty-two hours are required to enter the EXCEL Core. These hours are made up of previously earned college credit. Applicants with less than 62 hours should make them up before Core classes are taken. An admissions counselor can assist those with fewer than 62 credits to develop a plan to meet this requirement.

An Associate of Arts Degree may meet this requirement.

40 Hours

The 12 upper division core courses are completed one night per week over 14 months. Students are grouped into a cohort that works together throughout the entire program; the cohorts are designated as “BL” or “PSY.”

Post-Core Completion Requirements
0-22 Hours

Depending upon an individual's pre-core credit hours, a student may need to take up to 22 hours to complete the 124 credits necessary for their Bachelor degree. See below for specific requirements.

Program Major Requirements
24 hours

At least 24 semester hours are necessary for a major. During Core, the student will take 21 of these hours. If the student does not transfer in 3 additional hours in his/her professional studies area, then an additional 3 hours is required either in Christian Ministry, Psychology, or Business Leadership. Those Psychology students who do not transfer in a course in General Psychology should plan to make up this deficit during his/her first year in Core studies.

Students in the Christian Ministry degree are required to take BS 406 Romans and a Ministry Practicum course designed by your program advisor.

Bible Minor Requirements
19 hours

The Core is made up of 19 hours of Bible and Theology classes. These will qualify the student for a minor in Bible upon graduation. For those students wishing to have a second major in Bible, 5 additional hours in Biblical Studies are required. One of the strengths of Grace University is its Bible and Theology offerings. All EXCEL students are encouraged to take advantage of these offerings as part of the 69 hours of general requirements.

General Education Requirements*
15 hours

Of the 84 non-core hours, 15 of them must be distributed as follows:

  • 3 hours in Science, Math, or Computer Science
  • 3 hours in History
  • 3 hours in Oral Communication
